Video Game Expansion

A video game expansion is an additional content package released for an existing video game that enhances or extends the original game. Expansions typically introduce new features, gameplay mechanics, storylines, characters, levels, maps, or other content that enrich the player’s experience. Unlike downloadable content (DLC), which can be smaller updates or enhancements, expansions are usually more substantial and might require the base game to play. They often aim to deepen the gameplay experience and provide players with new challenges or adventures while maintaining continuity with the original game. Expansions are common in various genres, especially in role-playing games (RPGs), real-time strategy (RTS) games, and massively multiplayer online (MMO) games.
