Sri Lanka is an island country located in South Asia, situated in the Indian Ocean, to the southeast of the Indian subcontinent. It is separated from India by the Palk Strait. The capital city is Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte, while Colombo is the largest city and the commercial hub. Sri Lanka has a tropical climate, characterized by a variety of landscapes including mountains, forests, and beaches. It has a long history of human habitation and was known in ancient times as Ceylon. The economy is primarily based on agriculture, with tea, rubber, and coconut being significant export products. Additionally, Sri Lanka has developed a growing tourism industry, attracting visitors to its natural beauty, cultural heritage sites, and wildlife.
