Soccer

Soccer is a team sport played between two teams of eleven players each, typically on a rectangular field with a goal at each end. The primary objective of the game is to score goals by getting a spherical ball into the opposing team’s goal using any part of the body except for the hands and arms. Only the goalkeeper is allowed to use their hands, and only within the penalty area. The game is governed by a set of rules known as the Laws of the Game and is organized at both amateur and professional levels worldwide. Soccer is known as “football” in many countries outside of North America and has a rich history and a significant cultural impact, being the most popular sport globally in terms of participation and viewership. The sport is played in various formats, including outdoor, indoor, and various youth leagues, and encompasses many competitive tournaments, including international events like the FIFA World Cup.
