Pokémon

Pokémon is a media franchise created by Satoshi Tajiri and Ken Sugimori, and it is managed by The Pokémon Company, which is a collaboration between Nintendo, Game Freak, and Creatures. The term “Pokémon” is a contraction of the Japanese brand “Pocket Monsters.” It encompasses a wide range of elements, including video games, trading card games, animated television series, movies, toys, and a vast array of merchandise.

In the context of the franchise, Pokémon refers to the various creatures that trainers capture, train, and battle. Each Pokémon has its own unique abilities, characteristics, and types, which affect their performance in battles. The objective in many Pokémon games is to capture Pokémon to fill a Pokédex, compete in battles against other trainers, and often to defeat a series of challenges, culminating in battles with powerful opponents known as Gym Leaders and the Elite Four.

The franchise is notable for its emphasis on adventure, friendship, and the bond between trainers and their Pokémon. Pokémon has become a global cultural phenomenon since its launch in 1996, appealing to audiences of all ages.
