Baseball

Baseball is a bat-and-ball sport played between two teams, typically consisting of nine players each. The game is played on a diamond-shaped field, with four bases arranged in a square formation. The objective of baseball is to score runs by hitting a pitched ball with a bat and running around the bases to reach home plate.

Each team takes turns batting and fielding. The batting team aims to hit the ball and advance runners along the bases, while the fielding team attempts to get batters out through catches, throws, and tagging runners. A run is scored when a player successfully reaches home plate after touching all four bases in order.

Baseball features various roles, including pitchers, catchers, infielders, and outfielders, each with specific responsibilities during play. The game is known for its strategic elements, including pitch selection, defensive positioning, and base running tactics. A standard baseball game consists of nine innings, where each team has a chance to bat in each inning.

Often termed “America’s pastime,” baseball has a rich history and cultural significance, with a professional league system in various countries, most notably Major League Baseball (MLB) in the United States. The sport is characterized by its leisurely pace, statistical analysis, and strong tradition among fans and communities.
