Cricket

Cricket is a bat-and-ball team sport played between two teams of eleven players each. It is played on a circular or oval field with a 22-yard-long rectangular pitch at its center. The objective of the game is to score runs by hitting a hard ball with a flat bat and running between the wickets, which are wooden structures consisting of three stumps each, at both ends of the pitch. One team bats, attempting to score runs, while the other team bowls and fields, trying to dismiss the batters and limit runs scored.

Cricket is known for its various formats, including Test matches (which can last up to five days), One Day Internationals (50 overs per side), and Twenty20 matches (20 overs per side). The sport has a rich history and is particularly popular in countries such as England, Australia, India, and Pakistan. It has a well-defined set of rules known as the Laws of Cricket, maintained by the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC). The game emphasizes skill, strategy, and teamwork and has a significant cultural impact in many of the countries where it is played.
